Fort Lauderdale, FL (December 26, 2017) – The Sun Trolley is making your New Year’s Eve stress-free and easy by extending service hours on its Las Olas Link and the Riverwalk Water Trolley.
On Sunday, December 31, 2017, the Las Olas Link will have one trolley providing extended service from 6:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. from Las Olas Boulevard to Andrews Avenue, and the Riverwalk Water Trolley will be offering an additional vessel providing service from 5 p.m. – 1 a.m.
“New Year’s Eve is one of the busiest nights of the year, so we have extended hours on our Las Olas Link and Riverwalk Water Trolley to ensure that guests can get to and from their celebrations safely and quickly,” said Robyn Chiarelli, Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association, which administers operations of the Sun Trolley.
The Las Olas Link runs from the Broward Center for the Performing Arts (SW 2nd Street and SW 5th Avenue) east along 2nd Street to the City Parking Garage (located at the corner of SE 2nd Street between SE 1st Avenue and SE 2nd Avenue), then proceeds to Las Olas Boulevard and travels east to Fort Lauderdale Beach and north on A1A to Vistamar Street. The Riverwalk Water Trolley stops at eight different points along the New River: Esplanade Park, Riverfront Plaza, Huizenga Plaza, Laura Ward Riverwalk Plaza, Smoker Park, South Andrews Business District East, South Andrews Business District West, and Tarpon River.
Fares for the Sun Trolley Las Olas Link are $1 each way or $3 for an all-day pass. Tickets may be purchased onboard the trolleys with cash (exact change only). The Riverwalk Water Trolley is free to ride. To catch a ride on the Sun Trolley, just wave at the trolley driver from a safe location anywhere along the route and the driver will pick you up. To ride the Riverwalk Water Trolley, wait at one of the eight designated stops and a vessel will come by to pick you up.
“We encourage all of our guests to download the free Sun Trolley Tracker App on their Apple or Android device so they can track our trolleys in real-time,” said Chiarelli.
