Safety first! We are proud to announce that our very own Joyce Mealey, Public Relations & Community Outreach Manager at Conceptual Communications, has been named the Assistant Captain of the Wilton Manors CERT – Community Emergency Response Team.
CERT is a dedicated group of approximately 20 community volunteers who are responsible for keeping the community safe. This entails volunteering at special events and festivals and providing emergency assistance following fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, and other disasters. Often times, these volunteers are the first to arrive on the scene alongside police and fire officials.
Most recently, the Wilton Manors CERT team won the 2015 South Florida CERT challenge. “The Wilton Manors CERT volunteers are very passionate and care a lot about keeping their communities safe. I am so honored to be leading this group and truly enjoy the meaningful work we do, together, as a team,” said Mealey.
