Fort Lauderdale, FL (January 17, 2018) The Sun Trolley’s Galt Link, has been temporarily suspended as of Friday, December 1, 2017. Fort Lauderdale City Commissions voted to suspend the route at the November 21, 2017 city commission meeting.

“Over the next eighteen months, the existing route as well as different route alignments and service schedules will be analyzed,” said Robyn Chiarelli, Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association. “The ultimate goal is to meet the unique needs of this community and to make the trolley the first choice when it comes to the transportation options of our neighbors.”

The Sun Trolley’s Galt Link operated along Galt Ocean Drive as far north as Washingtonia Avenue in the Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea and as far south as the Galleria at Fort Lauderdale. Key destinations along this route included the Coral Ridge Mall, Anglin Fishing Pier, the Galt Ocean Mile Reading Center and the Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea’s Visitor’s Center.

“The Galt Link has historically served the senior citizen population that depends on the Sun Trolley for transportation,” said Chiarelli. “We are hopeful that we can have a revamped Galt Link approved and up and running in the future.”
