Fort Lauderdale, FL (August 1, 2017)Sunshine and beautiful beaches aren’t the only things that come free in Fort Lauderdale. The Sun Trolley is offering Florida residents free rides on the Las Olas Link until September 30, 2017, with presentation of a valid Florida ID.

“Summertime is fun, the kids are out of school and we want Florida residents to live like tourists and explore all that Fort Lauderdale has to offer via our quaint red and yellow trolleys,” said Robyn Chiarelli, Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Lauderdale Transportation Management Association (TMA), which administers the Sun Trolley.

Fares for the Las Olas Link are normally $1 per ride or $3 for an all-day pass. The Las Olas Link travels east along Las Olas Boulevard from the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, all the way to A1A on Fort Lauderdale Beach, then north to Vistamar Street and back south to Seabreeze Boulevard. Guests can enjoy Las Olas’s world-renowned shops and restaurants, and they can transfer easily from the Las Olas Link to the Beach Link at Vistamar Street and at the Gallery at Beach Place.

To catch a ride on the Sun Trolley, wave at the trolley driver from a safe location anywhere along the routes, and the driver will pick you up. The trolleys also have bike stows so that you can Bike ‘n’ Ride.

“We hope that by promoting free rides, our guests will be more likely to take the trolley in the future to get to their local destination,” Chiarelli said. “Roll down the windows and take in the ocean breeze as you kick back, relax and leave the driving to us all summer long!”
