Fort Lauderdale, FL (February 13, 2017) – Get ready to slide off your shoes and slip into the weekend. With the sand and waves of Fort Lauderdale Beach in the background, the free Friday Night Sound Waves Live Music Series will return to the Hub, located at Las Olas Boulevard and A1A, and kick off on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 6 p.m.

The series will open with a high-energy performance by one of South Florida’s favorite Motown and R&B bands, Pocket Change, followed by a wide array of musical genres every Friday night, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., through November 10, 2017. Special highlights over the 36 weeks include performances by rising stars on the country music scene, Farewell Angelina, on April 7; the Shane Duncan Band on May 5 for the official Fort Lauderdale Air Show welcome concert; and returning performances from crowd pleasers Mr. Nice Guy, Joel DaSilva and the Midnight Howl, Tom Sartori and Spred the Dub.

“We had fantastic feedback on our performer selection during our inaugural season in 2016, and with such an incredible local talent pool, it was challenging to narrow down this year’s lineup,” said Friday Night Sound Waves producer Arianne Glassman. “We think our faithful fans and those new to discovering the series are going to be really pleased with our final selection. After a four-month hiatus, we’re just ready to welcome our community of friends, neighbors and global visitors back to the beach every Friday night.”

The free concert series, funded in major part by the Fort Lauderdale Beach Business Improvement District (BID), attracts more than 15,000 locals and visitors each year. The Hub, which is situated 1.3 miles from the 17 Street Causeway to the south and 1.4 miles from Sunrise Boulevard to the north, serves as the heart of the Fort Lauderdale Beach “island.”

“Fort Lauderdale is a close-knit community that just happens to be made up of more than 60 individual neighborhoods,” said Glassman. “In a detached world where we connect through digital media, spending a few hours on a Friday night on the sand with family, co-workers, friends and live music is the perfect way to connect in person. Watching relationships build and new friendships develop out of this series is one of our proudest accomplishments.”
