Fort Lauderdale, FL (January 31, 2018) Pedals up! Join First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale and Habitat for Humanity of Broward on Saturday, February 17, 2018, for the sixth annual Habitat for Humanity Bike to Build event. Participants will race to the finish to help a deserving family achieve their dream of homeownership.

“We are grateful to First Presbyterian Church volunteers for helping us build homes for the past 25 years,” said Kathy Craven, member of the Habitat for Humanity Steering Committee. “This is our sixth year strong and we are thrilled that this long-standing biking event has become a tradition in the spirit of supporting Habitat for Humanity’s mission.”

The bike ride kicks off at 7 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale (401 SE 15th Ave., Fort Lauderdale) and will head east along Las Olas Boulevard. The 25-mile ride continues north on scenic A1A, turning around at the Hillsboro Inlet. The 50-mile ride continues north, turning around at Linton Boulevard in Delray Beach. Bikers on both routes will then ride back along A1A South to Las Olas Boulevard and complete their ride at the church. Post-ride, there will be a delicious brunch for all participants at the church from 8:30 a.m.  to 11:30 a.m.

“We offer two different ride lengths so people can choose the intensity of their experience,” said Craven. “Our beautiful Florida environment will make this ride all-the-more enjoyable and fun.”

The church aims to raise $70,000 to begin construction on a brand-new home for one deserving Broward County family. Once the funds are raised, Habitat for Humanity of Broward will conduct a family selection process, based on a range of criteria, to determine which family will receive the home.

A minimum donation of $100 per person or $500 per team is required to participate in the 6th Annual Bike to Build event. To register for the event, visit http://bit.ly/Bike2Build18 and complete the online registration form.
